E-mail marketing is a pretty straight-forward conceptIt’s when you send e-mails to market a product. Seems easy enough, right?
You might be wondering why e-mail marketing is important and how it can increase your bottom line? The more people you send e-mails to promoting your products, the more sales will be generated. This is because your e-mails can be sent to potential new customers in addition to existing customers.
Existing customers are the people who have purchased from you before and you likely stored their e-mail address and added it to your “list”. You can send promotions, discounts, sale information, new product information, etc. hoping that your existing customers will purchase additional products from you.
New customer e-mail addresses are usually acquired through a newsletter sign-up, or a list that can be purchased from another company that specializes in that sort of thing, although SPAM is one of the worste and most annoying tactics used today, so be careful not to anger your customers by sending TOO many e-mails their way. They could potentially block your e-mails. Just so you know, I have a list of about 100 e-mail addresses black-listed, which means that I will NEVER see an e-mail from them again. Hooray!
It is a great idea to add back-links (links back to your web page) in your e-mails so potential customers can easily access your page if they decide they are interested in whatever you’re offering. Putting direct links to your affiliate products is another way of generating more sales that doesn’t require the customer to ever even see your web page!
Besides generating more sales, e-mail marketing is also very cost-effective. The amount of money it would cost you to send promotional content to every person on your “list” by regular mail would be astronomical. If you have around 100 e-mails on your “list”, it can cost you at least $42! Now, if you eventually acquire a longer list, which you definitely WANT to do, it can cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars! Just remember that sending e-mail is absolutely FREE!
Some other benefits to think about are:
- Delivery Time: E-mail gets to the customers inbox within seconds whereas regular mail can take days.
- Tracking: It is very easy to track electronic mail while regular mail would need to be “return receipt requested”, which is both expensive and time consuming.
- Website Traffic: You can send an e-mail to customers to alert them to sales, promotions, and new products instead of hoping people find your website through a search engine. Whether the recipient actually opens the e-mail is a different story, but there are methods used for tracking that information as well.
- Eco-friendly: There is no paper required to send an e-mail! Save a tree while you market your products!
A lot of affiliate products offer templates and tips on how to create a large “list” of e-mail addresses. Make sure you do your research and find the product that is right for YOU!
